Housemarque has unveiled new details about its upcoming title, Saros, during The Game Awards. Set to release on April 30, 2026, the game will be available on PlayStation 5 and enhanced for the PlayStation 5 Pro. Pre-orders are now live on the PlayStation Store, allowing players to reserve their copies ahead of launch.
The narrative of Saros centers around a lost off-world colony on Carcosa, which exists under an ominous eclipse. Players assume the role of Arjun Devraj, a formidable Soltari Enforcer driven by a relentless quest to uncover the truth about a significant figure within the story. While we were introduced to some elements of the plot through the newly released trailer, Housemarque has kept many details shrouded in mystery to encourage exploration and discovery.
Voiced by the acclaimed Rahul Kohli, Arjun is not alone in his journey. The game boasts an impressive ensemble cast that includes Jane Perry reprising her role as Sheridan Bouchard, Ben Prendergast as Jerome Jackson, and David DeSantos as Sebastian Torres. Additional characters voiced by Adriyan Raye and Shunori Ramanthan are also expected to enrich Carcosa’s narrative landscape. Players will encounter these NPCs in the Passage, the game’s hub, as well as throughout the various environments, discovering their intertwining stories through dialogue and audio logs.
The creative team at Housemarque aims to deliver an emotional and thought-provoking character study that reflects on the costs associated with forging a new future. They emphasize the importance of narrative, stating that Saros represents their most ambitious storytelling effort to date.
In addition to its narrative depth, Saros promises to retain the signature “bullet ballet” gameplay for which Housemarque is known. The recently showcased gameplay reveals exhilarating action sequences involving hostile creatures native to Carcosa. Players can expect to utilize a new ability called Parry, allowing them to reflect projectiles back at enemies with precise timing, further enhancing the combat experience.
For those interested in a premium experience, the Digital Deluxe Edition of Saros will be available for purchase, granting players a 48-hour early access period. This edition features exclusive PlayStation Studios celebration suits inspired by titles such as Returnal and God of War, allowing players to customize Arjun’s appearance and experience the game in unique ways. Additionally, players who pre-order either the standard or Digital Deluxe versions will unlock the “Hands of Shore Armour.”
As the release date approaches, Housemarque is set to reveal more about the game, including insights into how they are leveraging the PS5 hardware capabilities. Future announcements will delve into the “Come Back Stronger” systems, eclipse escalation, and additional gameplay features, providing fans with a deeper understanding of this highly anticipated title.
Saros represents a significant milestone for Housemarque, blending cutting-edge technology and a rich narrative experience. As developers continue to share updates, it becomes clear that this project is a culmination of ambition and creativity, promising to offer players an unforgettable gaming experience in 2026.
