Solo Indian game developer Baba Black Sheep Games has launched its cricket-rhythm action game, Bat to the Beat, as part of the ongoing Steam Sports Fest, which runs until December 15, 2025. Players can find the title featured in the “browse games” section of the Sports Fest on Steam, where they also have the option to wishlist the game and try a demo version available on Valve’s digital storefront.
The developer has revealed a series of levels that players can expect when Bat to the Beat fully launches. The game will feature various locations, including Sri Lanka, South Africa, Australia, India, Jamaica, New Zealand, Pakistan, and England. Each level is designed to challenge players with unique musical rhythms representative of the respective countries.
Bat to the Beat is crafted as a cricket-rhythm action game where players must make decisions after each beat. The randomness of enemy positions ensures that every playthrough remains distinct, encouraging players to think on their feet. By traveling around the world, players will engage with the unique grooves associated with each country, adding a layer of cultural depth to the gameplay.
Kunal Joshi, the solo developer behind Baba Black Sheep Games, initially announced the project in April 2025. He described it as “a passion project that’s been honed from years of iteration and feedback.” The game is slated for a full release in the first quarter of 2026, providing ample time for players to engage with its demo and offer feedback prior to launch.
As part of the Steam Sports Fest, players can also explore various deals on popular titles, including NBA 2K26 and Undisputed, among others. This promotion highlights the vibrant ecosystem of gaming, offering players an opportunity to discover new experiences while anticipating upcoming releases like Bat to the Beat.
With its unique blend of cricket and rhythm-based gaming, Bat to the Beat aims to carve a niche in both the sports and rhythm game genres. The innovative gameplay mechanics and cultural elements promise to engage a broad audience, making the title one to watch as it approaches its scheduled release in Q1 2026. As the gaming landscape continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how indie developers like Baba Black Sheep Games contribute to this dynamic environment.
