Team Yandex Secures Spot in Grand Final at DreamLeague Season 27

G2 Esports secures a stunning 3-1 victory over Team Vitality to win the EU LEC title and claim a $100K prize pool, solidifying their dominance.

Team Yandex advanced to the grand final of the DreamLeague Season 27 playoffs after a commanding performance on Saturday, defeating Team Spirit with a decisive 2-0 victory in the upper-bracket final. The matches concluded in 42 and 43 minutes, both played on the red side, showcasing Team Yandex’s strategic prowess and execution. They now await the outcome of the lower-bracket final, where Team Spirit will face PARIVISION on Sunday for the final spot in the championship match.

The tournament, which began with 24 teams competing in a Swiss System group stage, featured all matches in the early rounds as best-of-three formats. The top eight teams progressed into the double-elimination playoffs. In this phase, playoff matches also follow a best-of-three format, leading up to the best-of-five grand final, set to take place later on Sunday.

The stakes are high, with a $1 million prize pool on the line. The champion will receive $200,000 in prize money along with a $30,000 club reward, while the runner-up will secure $125,000 and a $25,000 club reward. The prizes reflect the increasing competitiveness and investment in the Dota 2 esports scene.

Ilya “CHIRA JUNIOR” Chirtsov from Team Yandex delivered a standout performance in the upper-bracket final, achieving an impressive kills-deaths-assists ratio of 21-5-28. His individual skill contributed significantly to the team’s success, further solidifying Team Yandex’s reputation as a formidable contender in the tournament.

On the other side of the bracket, PARIVISION’s journey to the lower-bracket final saw them eliminate OG with a 2-1 result in the lower-bracket quarterfinal. Despite a tough start that saw them lose the first match in 34 minutes while playing on green, they rallied back to win the next two matches in 42 and 38 minutes respectively, also on green. This comeback exemplified their resilience and adaptability under pressure.

PARIVISION’s run continued as they faced Xtreme Gaming in the lower-bracket semifinal, where they completed a clean sweep with victories of 45 minutes on red and a swift 20 minutes on green. Their performance not only solidified their place in the lower-bracket final but also demonstrated their growing strength as a team in the tournament.

The prize distribution for DreamLeague Season 27 reflects the competitive nature of the event. The top six positions in the prize pool are guaranteed minimum amounts, ensuring that all qualifying teams are rewarded for their efforts. In addition to the grand prizes, teams finishing third through sixth will receive varying amounts, with Xtreme Gaming taking home $64,000 and a $15,000 club reward after their elimination.

As the tournament draws closer to its conclusion, all eyes will be on the eagerly anticipated lower-bracket final between Team Spirit and PARIVISION. The outcome will not only determine the final team advancing to the grand final but will also set the stage for what promises to be an electrifying conclusion to the tournament. With significant prize money and prestige on the line, both teams will look to capitalize on their strengths as they vie for a shot at the championship.
