MOONTON Games, the developer behind Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, announced on Monday the expansion of its partnership with realme, a multinational Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer. The financial terms of this enhanced collaboration were not disclosed.
This expanded agreement will see realme supporting MOONTON in launching two prominent initiatives during the upcoming M7 World Championship (M7) in Indonesia. The championship, taking place from January 3 to January 25, will include the second edition of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Media Championship (MMC) and will debut the M7 Awards for Best Media.
The MMC is set to feature up to eight onsite media teams competing in both an Elimination Round and a Grand Finals during the M7 Knockout Stage. The champions of the tournament will receive five realme smartphones along with a share of the 270,000 Diamonds prize pool, the in-game currency for Mobile Legends. The inaugural MMC was held alongside the previous M6 championship, where Malaysia’s WTM Today emerged as the champion. MOONTON has indicated that additional details regarding the MMC will be released in due course.
Adrian Cher, global head of partnerships for MLBB Esports at MOONTON Games, expressed enthusiasm about the events, stating, “Hosting the MMC alongside the M7 gives us a chance to showcase the ecosystem behind MLBB Esports. Esports is more than just the game and our players. What many don’t get to see is how technology powers gameplay and how our valued media partners bring these moments to life for audiences around the world. Through the MMC, we’re excited to let media representatives experience MLBB Esports first-hand and highlight the role they play in connecting us with our passionate community. The tournament is a celebration of how competition, technology, and storytelling come together to shape the future of esports.”
The M7 Awards for Best Media will consist of three categories: the “Trendspotter Award,” “Best in Esports Business Journalism Award,” and the “Outstanding Feature Award.” All three awards will be sponsored by realme. Winners will receive a certificate of recognition, 50,000 Diamonds each, and a new realme smartphone.
Notably, the realme 15 Pro was previously designated as the “M7 Official Gaming Phone,” indicating the brand’s commitment to the esports community and its technological capabilities.
As the M7 World Championship approaches, the collaboration between MOONTON and realme highlights the growing intersection of technology and esports. By showcasing media representation within the competitive landscape, these events aim to foster a deeper appreciation for the role of journalism in esports, further enhancing the overall experience for fans and participants alike.
