In a significant move for the upcoming 2026 VALORANT season, Koki “gyen” Nakamura has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with RIDDLE ORDER, according to sources close to Sheep Esports. The young Japanese player made a name for himself during the 2025 season while playing for DetonatioN FocusMe as a Controller, showcasing considerable potential within the VCT Pacific circuit.
During his tenure with DFM, gyen faced tough competition, playing through a challenging group phase in the VCT 2025: Pacific Kickoff and Stage 1. The team was unable to secure a single series win against formidable opponents, including Global Esports, DRX, Gen.G, Paper Rex, and BOOM Esports. However, the trajectory of the team improved in Stage 2, where gyen’s consistent performance in Controller roles helped DFM secure victories against ZETA DIVISION, TALON, and BOOM Esports. Despite their efforts, the team fell short against Paper Rex and T1, ultimately being eliminated in the playoffs by Nongshim RedForce.
At just 19 years old, gyen concluded his first full season in a partnered league with an impressive number of maps played against some of the top teams in the Pacific region. His performances demonstrated not only skill but also the potential for growth in a competitive environment. This experience positions him as a promising asset for RIDDLE ORDER as they look to enhance their roster for the 2026 season.
The decision to bring gyen on board follows a notable 2025 campaign for RIDDLE ORDER in the Japanese scene. The organization topped the circuit points standings across three splits of VALORANT Challengers Japan 2025, earning a spot in the Season Finals held at the Keio Arena in Tokyo. There, they clinched the national title with a decisive 3–1 victory over FENNEL, securing Japan’s sole slot for the VCT Ascension Pacific 2025. This marked the team’s second consecutive appearance at Ascension Pacific, following a fourth-place finish in 2024, but they were unable to advance past the group stage this time.
RIDDLE ORDER’s back-to-back appearances at international competitions have provided them with invaluable experience and exposure. Integrating a player like gyen, who is coming off a full season in the VCT Pacific with DFM, aligns with the organization’s ambitions to build on their domestic success and enhance their competitiveness on the international stage.
As both gyen and RIDDLE ORDER prepare for the upcoming 2026 season, the synergy between the young player’s talent and the team’s established framework could be pivotal. With aspirations of not only maintaining their domestic dominance but also contending for promotion to the VCT Pacific league, the integration of fresh talent like gyen is a strategic move that could shape the future of the organization.
The coming months will be crucial for both gyen and RIDDLE ORDER as they aim to solidify their roster and strategy ahead of a season that promises to be highly competitive. As the VALORANT landscape continues to evolve, the potential impact of this partnership could resonate well beyond national borders, marking a significant step in the journey of both the player and the organization.
