G2 Announces Partnership with NORD Esports for New Tier-2 League in LoL

G2 Esports secures a thrilling 2-1 victory over Team Vitality to win the LEC Summer Split and claim a $100K prize pool.

Berlin-based esports organization G2 announced on Tuesday that it has formed a partnership with NORD Esports to create a new team dedicated to League of Legends esports, named G2 NORD. The financial terms of this collaboration were not disclosed, but it marks a significant step in G2’s ongoing efforts to expand its influence and presence in the competitive gaming landscape.

The newly established team will compete in the official DACH EMEA Regional League (ERL) Prime League, which is known for showcasing some of the most promising talents in the region. In a further boost to this initiative, LVM Versicherung, an insurance services firm, will support G2 NORD as a founding partner. This partnership indicates a strong commitment to nurturing emerging talent in the esports arena.

According to G2’s announcement, the primary objective of G2 NORD is to “build the strongest League of Legends team in Germany, establish itself as a top EMEA Masters contender, and develop high-potential players within G2’s established competitive framework.” The team aims to create a high-performance academy environment, acting as an incubator for young talents and providing a “path to pro” for aspiring players in Germany.

Alban Dechelotte, CEO of G2, emphasized the organization’s long-standing ambition to foster a truly global brand that resonates with fans worldwide. “From the very beginning, G2 has always had the ambition to build a truly global organization, one that captures hearts and minds of fans all over the world,” he stated. He further elaborated, “This project is about reconnecting, listening, and building something that German fans can truly call their own. We want to give them more G2 to cheer for, and to create moments and stories they can be proud of.” Dechelotte believes that through initiatives like G2 NORD, the organization will enhance its connection with its German fanbase, making them feel more integral to the G2 community.

For its inaugural season, G2 NORD has assembled a roster designed to compete at a high level. The team will include top laner Francesco “Shelfmade” Cardia, jungler Mark “Markoon” van Woensel, mid laner Alex “Toasty” Chea, AD carry Khalil “Rin” Sahraoui, support player Timo “Tockimo” Bock, and head coach Nicolas Perez. This lineup reflects G2’s commitment to fielding a competitive team that can make a significant impact in the league.

As G2 NORD prepares for its first foray into competition under the G2 banner, further details about the project are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks. With this new initiative, G2 not only seeks to strengthen its position in the esports domain but also aims to cultivate the next generation of talent in Germany, potentially reshaping the competitive landscape in the region.

This strategic move by G2 highlights the increasing investment in regional teams and development programs within the esports ecosystem. By fostering local talent and providing a structured environment for growth, G2 NORD is poised to contribute significantly to the evolution of esports in Germany, which could lead to greater opportunities for players and fans alike in the years to come.
