Alpha7 Esports emerged victorious at the 2025 PUBG MOBILE Global Championship (PMGC) Grand Finals on Sunday, concluding a three-day event that also brought significant announcements regarding the future of the game. The tournament took place from December 12 to 14 at Siam Paragon, gathering 16 teams vying for a share of a $3 million prize pool.
With a total of 142 points, including 76 eliminations and two match victories, Alpha7 Esports claimed the championship title. They finished ahead of ULF Esports, who secured second place, while Alpha Gaming rounded out the top three. Notably, Alpha Gaming’s player TOP was awarded the Grand Finals MVP for his outstanding performance throughout the tournament.
The Grand Finals marked the culmination of a month-long series of events in Bangkok, which blended competitive gaming with fan activations, live performances, and large-scale installations linked to PUBG MOBILE. This comprehensive approach emphasized the growth of esports within urban settings, showcasing both the competitive spirit and community engagement that the game fosters.
One of the most innovative aspects of the final day was the introduction of the “SMASH Rule,” which required teams to reach a specific points threshold and then win a match to secure immediate championship victory. Alpha7 Esports was the first to hit this benchmark and ultimately clinched the title in the last match, taking advantage of the late eliminations of key rivals.
During the closing ceremony, PUBG MOBILE Producer Rick Li unveiled several initiatives set for 2026. Among these was a notable partnership with Ferrari, which is expected to debut next year, alongside a new fast-paced battle royale mode designed for shorter, 10-minute matches, entering beta testing soon. This move indicates a shift towards more dynamic gameplay experiences aimed at engaging a broader audience.
Li also highlighted ongoing investment in World of Wonder, PUBG MOBILE’s user-generated content platform. Since its launch, millions of custom maps have been created, with a significant number of players engaging daily. To incentivize further creativity, a $10 million prize pool has been allocated for World of Wonder creators in 2026, showcasing a commitment to fostering community-driven content.
Additional announcements included plans to host two PUBG MOBILE Global Open tournaments in 2026, which are intended to expand access to international competition further. The commitment to maintain strict enforcement against cheating and rule violations was also reiterated, ensuring the integrity of the competitive landscape.
The 2025 PMGC has been described as the largest edition of the tournament to date, successfully merging esports competition with citywide events that signal PUBG MOBILE’s aspirations to broaden its competitive ecosystem and creative platforms in the upcoming year. As the game continues to evolve, these developments may pave the way for new gameplay experiences and community interactions, making PUBG MOBILE an even more significant player in the global esports arena.
