Nintendo Switch Offers One True Hero for Free in 24-Hour Switchmas Giveaway

Nintendo eShop’s Switchmas Giveaway offers the 2022 game One True Hero for free on December 15, rewarding players who claimed previous titles in the promotion.

A limited-time offer on the Nintendo eShop allows players to grab a 2022 Nintendo Switch game, One True Hero, for free as part of the ongoing Switchmas Giveaway by No Gravity Games. This promotion began on December 12 and runs until December 19, providing a new game daily for 24 hours, culminating in a final day where three games will be available at no cost.

So far, the giveaway has included titles such as Bullets & Brains, Retro Drive: Revamped, and Bubble Trouble Adventures. To claim the current offering, users must have claimed the previous title; therefore, One True Hero, available for free on December 15, can only be accessed by those who acquired Bubble Trouble Adventures. For players who missed out, the latter is currently available for purchase at $2.49, enabling access to subsequent free titles in the promotion, provided they also sign up for No Gravity Games’ complimentary newsletter.

One True Hero is a 3D platformer developed by Rat Cliff Games, although it does not yet hold a Metacritic score. User reviews on platforms like Steam offer some insight, with a 73% approval rating based on 23 reviews. Many users note that while it may not fully measure up to classics such as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time or Spyro the Dragon, it still offers an enjoyable experience for dedicated fans of the genre.

The game’s official synopsis presents an intriguing narrative: “One day, a young farmer. The other day, a hero… But is he really able to save the town if he’s barely able to save himself?” Players will assume the role of a local hero tasked with exploring ancient ruins, battling evil minions, and uncovering the mystery of a sinking town. The challenge lies not only in defeating foes but also in convincing the townspeople of his capabilities, a feat that proves to be his most daunting task.

While those with a Nintendo Switch 2 might be disappointed to learn that there is no native version of One True Hero for that console, it remains playable through backward compatibility. This means players can still experience the game on the new system, even if it isn’t optimized for it.

The Switchmas Giveaway offers a unique opportunity for gamers to not only expand their library but also engage with titles they might not have considered purchasing. With the event culminating soon, gamers are encouraged to take part in this limited-time offer, seizing the chance to claim titles at no cost. The community response has been positive, with many players engaging in discussions about their experiences with the free games and what they hope to see in future promotions.

As the promotional window nears its close, players are reminded that claiming these games does not just provide immediate entertainment; it also opens the door for ongoing participation in similar events. The final day promises three additional free games, making it a significant moment for fans of the platform. With a blend of nostalgia and fresh gaming experiences, the Switchmas Giveaway stands as a notable highlight on the Nintendo eShop calendar.
