Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Demos Launch on Xbox and Switch 2 Today

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade demos on Xbox and Nintendo Switch 2 today, allowing players to experience Midgar’s first chapter ahead of the January 22, 2026 release.

Square Enix has unveiled the much-anticipated demos for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, now available on both the Xbox and Nintendo Switch 2 platforms. This release marks a significant moment for fans of the franchise, as it heralds the entry of the acclaimed remake onto new consoles.

The demo, which can be downloaded now, allows players to experience the entire first chapter of the game, the iconic mako reactor bombing mission. Square Enix has made it easy for players to transition from the demo to the full game, as save data from the demo can be carried over to the complete versions set to launch on January 22, 2026. Players who successfully transfer their demo save data will be rewarded with bonus items, including the “Revival Earrings” and “Survival Set.”

The Xbox demo is compatible with console, PC, and handheld devices through its Play Anywhere feature, making it accessible for a wide range of gamers. The demo download size is approximately 7.9GB on the Nintendo Switch 2, and while it is currently available for console download, it should soon be accessible via the web.

Players should be aware of a few limitations regarding save data. If a user has already created save data for the full game, they will not be able to transfer demo save data. However, the bonus items can still be obtained through other means within the full game. Upon completion of the demo content, players will have the chance to unlock the achievement “Onetime Gig” in the main game, provided they carry over their completed save data.

With Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade already available on PlayStation 5 and PC, the addition of Xbox and Nintendo Switch 2 versions opens the door for a broader audience. This cross-platform release is a strategic move by Square Enix, aimed at capitalizing on the enduring popularity of the franchise.

The demo not only serves as a promotional tool but also as a bridge for players who may be new to the series or considering their return after a hiatus. As the gaming community eagerly anticipates the full release, the demo provides a tantalizing glimpse into the world of Midgar, showcasing the enriched graphics and gameplay mechanics that have garnered acclaim since the original release.

For those interested, a new demo trailer has also been released by Square Enix, offering additional insights and visual enhancements that players can expect. As gamers explore the demo, they will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the narrative and gameplay that have defined this beloved title.

As the gaming landscape continues to evolve, the significance of this demo release extends beyond mere gameplay. It reflects a growing trend towards inclusivity in gaming, making beloved titles available across multiple platforms and enhancing the overall player experience. With Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade set to make its full debut in early 2026, the anticipation continues to build, promising a rich and rewarding experience for both newcomers and veteran players alike.
